FAQ
Facebook cover photos should be 820×312 pixels for optimal display on desktop. On mobile, the sides may be cropped, so keep important content in the center. Maximum file size is 100 KB, and JPG or PNG formats work best.
For Instagram feed posts, use 1080×1080 pixels for square posts, 1080×1350 pixels for portrait (4:5 ratio, which gets the most screen space), or 1080×566 pixels for landscape. Stories and Reels should be 1080×1920 pixels (9:16 ratio).
Open Graph images (og:image) should be 1200×630 pixels for optimal display across Facebook, LinkedIn, and other platforms that use Open Graph meta tags. This gives you a 1.91:1 aspect ratio that works well for link previews.
HD (720p) is 1280×720 pixels, Full HD (1080p) is 1920×1080 pixels, and 4K UHD is 3840×2160 pixels. Each step roughly doubles the number of pixels: 4K has 4 times the pixels of Full HD.
For high-quality prints, use 300 DPI (dots per inch). Multiply the print size in inches by 300 to get the pixel dimensions. For example, a 4×6 inch print needs 1200×1800 pixels, and an 8×10 print needs 2400×3000 pixels.
Aspect ratio is the proportional relationship between width and height (e.g., 16:9, 4:3, 1:1). It matters because images may be cropped if uploaded in the wrong ratio. Using the correct aspect ratio ensures your image displays without unwanted cropping.
